Job Summary:

The Building Information Modeling Detailer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining digital 3D models of buildings and other structures using the building information modeling (BIM) software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment

• Produces three-dimensional models, using computer-aided design (CAD) software

• Lays out and draws schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machines

• Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed

• Coordinates with and consults other workers to design layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems

• Check the dimensions of the materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials

• Performs other duties as assigned​

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and BIM modeling and collaboration processes

• Ability to create 3D visuals to illustrate each building from different viewpoints

• Uses and interprets technical terminology and symbols used in preparing and presenting Information Models, Structural, and Architectural drawings

• ​Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, to read complex blueprints, piping sketches, schematics, and more

• Demonstrates excellent and proficient skills in both oral and written communication

• Possesses organizational skills and attention to detail

• Skilled in active listening, retaining information, and asking questions as appropriate

• Has effective teamwork and collaborative skills

• Has the ability to operate or drive a company vehicle

• Has the ability to perform duties with uprightness, professionalism, and confidentiality

Education and Experience:

The Building Information Modeling Detailer requires a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field. The position also requires prior exposure to drafting electrical building systems such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM coordination.
