Summary/General Description of Job:

The incumbent cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Will be assigned by the Custodial Supervisor to their specific work location daily. The employee will follow the custodial plan check list for the specific areas assigned and ensure all plan requirements are met.

• Plans, organizes work, and meet all deadlines.

• Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and related fixtures including drinking fountains, refrigerated water coolers, custodial mop sinks, restroom sinks, urinals and toilets: replenishes supplies in restrooms.

• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, strips and polishes floors.

• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, and fixtures.

• Washes windows, mirrors and walls.

• Washes tables and chairs.

• Empties, cleans and sanitizes waste receptacles.

• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up rooms for conferences and meetings.

• Replaces light bulbs and adjusts shades and blinds.

• Identifies and reports building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.

• Performs specialized projects such as restoration programs on floors, walls, ceilings, furniture, and other items.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Possess organizational skills in order to complete all tasks in one day.

• Ability to work with little or no supervision.

• Ability to multi-task.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience & Professional Association):

Minimum

• General knowledge of hand and power tools.

• Shall be knowledgeable in Hazardous Material Communication procedures as it relates to cleaning supplies.

• Ability to speak, read and write basic English.

• Valid driver’s license with excellent driving record (Must provide current driving record).

• Ability to pass background investigation.

• Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).

Preferred

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• One (1) year of custodial (janitor) experience.
