Network Administrator
Job Summary:
The network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and support of the company's network infrastructure. This includes overseeing the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network devices, ensuring reliable connectivity across multiple job sites and offices. The role involves ensuring network security, managing servers, supporting hardware/software systems, and collaborating with IT teams to improve technological efficiency across the company. The Network Administrator will also provide technical support to employees, ensuring seamless communication and data sharing between departments and construction teams.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN) Infrastructure
-
Upgrade, integrate, install, configure, test, maintain, dismantle, and tum in data and video communication networks - both hardware and software.
-
Required communication capability includes the understanding of the interconnectivity of wireless, fiber optics, coaxial and copper (twisted pair) broadband, and baseband.

Follow applicable environmental energy efficiency guidelines when purchasing new hardware or electronic equipment.

Network Infrastructure Support- Provide network infrastructure support (technical control) including, but not limited to:

Point-to-point installs and maintenance.
-
Long-haul circuit management and operations.
-
Loading circuit encryption equipment.
-
Infrastructure network equipment.
-
Installation, repair, and management of network infrastructure.

Net Integration
-
Operate, maintain, and configure voice, data, and video routers, hubs, switches, ITNs, and bridges to interface commercial, DoD, and coalition networks.
-
Control and configures internal routers/switches and network infrastructure devices.

Net Encryption
-
Assess network security needs, including firewall setup, antispam, antivirus, web content filtering, backups, password policy, antimalware, and antiphishing.
-
Establish web security gateways, perimeter security, network access control, endpoint security, perimeter incident detection system/intrusion prevention system (IDS/IPS), and network security protocols.
-
Operate and configure point-to-point, VPN, and bulk encryption for network and long-haul circuits.
-
Investigate new and improved network encryption strategies to meet any regulatory compliance standards and overarching cybersecurity strategies of the organization.

Net Architecture/Configuration Management
-
Maintain and administer network (voice, video, and data) management, planning and circuit databases, records, and forms.

Review and maintain operational measurement reports and analyze network utilization.

Ensure equipment and components meet installation practice technical orders and accepted commercial installation specifications.

Perform active network monitoring.

Communications-Computer Systems Control (Tech Control)
-
Operate, monitor, secure, and control the physical, data link, network, and transport layers of Communications-Computer Systems (C-CS).
-
Perform, coordinate, and supervise design, configuration, operation, restoration, and improvements.
-
Analyze capabilities and performance, identify problems, and take corrective action.
-
Perform C-CS control facility quality assurance evaluations.
-
Direct and make operational adjustments to C-CS equipment.
-
Ensure links support the transmission of data, for example; electronic mail, voice, and video, between these organizations.
-
Maintain and monitor all aspects of the LAN.
-
Assume operational control of the wireless network and provide network service and maintenance.

Environmental Management
-
Follow applicable environmental guidelines when disposing of hardware or electronic equipment.
-
Follow applicable environmental energy efficiency guidelines when purchasing new hardware or electronic equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-
Familiarity with routing, switching, and subnetting techniques.
-
Knowledge of wireless networking standards (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
-
Knowledge of security protocols (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption techniques).
-
Familiarity with best practices for securing network infrastructure, including user access controls, VPNs, and multi-factor authentication.
-
Understanding of networking hardware, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network-attached storage (NAS).
-
Knowledge of cloud-based networking, hybrid IT infrastructure, and remote access technologies.
-
Understanding of network performance optimization techniques.
-
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methods for network systems and data protection.
-
Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve network issues, both remotely and on-site.

Skilled in the setup and configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
-
Ability to install and configure network operating systems, software, and hardware.
-
Ability to implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and other network protection systems.
-
Skills in securing remote access and protecting the network against cyber threats.

Ability to document network configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and infrastructure layouts clearly and accurately.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical issues to non-technical staff and collaborate with teams across departments.
-
Ability to train and support end-users on network-related issues.
-
Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Administration, Computer Engineering or a related field (preferred).

Minimum of 2-4 years of hands-on experience in network administration, network support, or a related role.
