Painter - Guam Housing (Ace)

Summary/General Description of Job:

This position is responsible for performing skilled work in preparing surfaces and in painting and finishing varied surfaces, including buildings, equipment and other structures. The incumbent will be performing service calls and preventative maintenance of Military Housing facilities which will require direct communications with Military Housing residents, Government and company quality inspectors.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Prepares surface for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes.

  • Repairs surfaces to be painted including plastering and sheetrock finishing.

  • Mixes colors, oils, and other paint ingredients to obtain proper color or consistency.

  • Applies primer paint using spray equipment, brush and roller.

  • Sets up scaffolding in order to reach heights while painting.

  • Maintains and cleans all tools and equipment, including airless equipment, and the assigned work area.

  • Adheres to QA/QC program requirements for painting performance where applicable.

  • In some cases, this position will utilize written service orders or individual work orders to identify the type of work to be performed and location for the required service. The employee is required to complete the service or work order paperwork once the work is completed and to turn them into the service desk at the end of the shift. If issues arise during the service the employee will communicate via cell phone to the service desk for further direction.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • • Timely completion and accuracy of all work.

  • Work closely and harmoniously with other employees.

  • Adherence to contract requirements and DBSI policies.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience & Professional Association):

Mandatory

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Three years’ experience in building and/or equipment painting.

  • Ability to pass and maintain a medical exam by a certified physician of the company’s choice, for the purpose of using a half mask respirator (PPE).

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to obtain access to U.S. Government Installations through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS).

Preferred

  • HAZCOM Training and certificate

  • Experience in industrial or commercial painting.

  • Previous painting experience in a climate similar to where the job is located.
     

WORK CONDITIONS

Work is typically performed indoors and outdoors. Exposure to paint and solvents is common. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may include occasional spikes such as hammer strikes or loud equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting, handling, or moving of objects without assistance.

  • Must be able to lift of up to 50 pounds.
