Accountant

Job Summary:

 

An Accountant is responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. They analyze financial data, prepare reports, and help manage budgeting, forecasting, and taxation. Accountants also work with internal teams to improve financial processes, ensure accurate reporting, and provide insights into the financial health of an organization. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and knowledge of accounting software are key in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

​

  • Prepare and examine the Financial Statements of the Company and where they stand with laws and regulations.

  • Preparing tax returns and ensuring that taxes are paid properly and on time.

  • Recording and categorizing expenses and preparing Financial Reports.

  • Analyzing Financial data so they recommend ways to help the company run proficiently

  • Audits and analyzes contracts, orders, and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement

  • Processing all purchase/contract bills on the basis of purchase orders and other supporting documents and checking the accuracy of invoices against PO, contract,t and delivery receipt before payment

  • Manage all the accounts payable and receivables for assigned projects through project inception to close out

  • Releasing payment to vendors and sub-contractors as and when due

  • Administers online banking functions for payments and collections and also multiple bank reconciliations

  • Analyzes and reconciles bank statements and general ledgers

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information

  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports

  • Process journal entries and perform accounting corrections such as reconciliation reports to ensure accurate records

  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting

  • Audits and analyzes contracts, orders, and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement

  • Conducts review, consolidation, and working out solutions for audit issues

  • Reconcile monthly statements of vendor accounts

  • Preparation of monthly regular reports like cash flow & bank reconciliation statements, Subcon Receivable,s and vendors payable schedule

  • Computes and prepares income tax returns and other supplementary reports for filing with respective regulatory agencies

  • Processing of monthly and quarterly tax reports for various Government agencies

  • Submits monthly reports of financial statements and bank reconciliation

  • Directs and coordinates activities of other accountants and clerical workers performing accounting and bookkeeping tasks

  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results needed

         

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

​

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

  • Understanding of financial reporting requirements, tax laws, and auditing standards.

  • Knowledge of tax codes, regulations, and compliance requirements for local, state, and federal taxes.

  • Familiarity with financial analysis techniques, such as ratio analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

  • Knowledge of how to prepare, analyze, and interpret key financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

  • Understanding of internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial records, reports, and tax filings.

  • Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations for improving financial performance or addressing issues.

  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and prioritize competing responsibilities.

  • Ability to troubleshoot financial discrepancies, resolve accounting issues, and recommend improvements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for preparing reports, explaining financial data to non-financial staff, and liaising with clients, auditors, and tax authorities.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or other data analysis tools for creating reports, performing calculations, and analyzing financial data.

  • Ability to keep accurate records, maintain organized filing systems, and efficiently manage financial documentation.

  • Ability to evaluate complex financial data, identify issues, and suggest practical solutions or improvements.

  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations, software, and industry standards in accounting.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborating with other departments, management, and external partners.

  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and maintain confidentiality in all financial matters.

  • Ability to make informed decisions regarding financial reporting, budgeting, and resource allocation.

  • Strong sense of ethics and integrity in managing financial records and ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.

Education and Experience:

​

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is typically required and with at least two to five (2-5) years of experience in accounting.
